Belmont Stakes Stars

Twelve contenders for the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 5, 2010, and twelve signs of the Zodiac! Coincidence? I think so!

Seriously, the Third Jewel of the Triple Crown at Belmont Park is known as “The Test of Champions” – that is, when there is a winner of both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness. That is not the case this time.

Instead, we have Ice Box, who came in second in the Kentucky Derby, and First Dude, who came in second in the Preakness. Fly Down did just win an impressive first in the Dwyer Stakes. But they are all winners – that’s why they are here.

The race is also known as the “Test of Champions” because it is a mile-and-a-half race – the longest race course in the U.S. Thus we are looking for stamina among these, still young, animals – plus that Extra Sparkle that makes them come in first!

What is the prevailing Astrological Climate for Saturday? Well, it’s a case of “Not Yet” – the Moon will be in Pisces, not yet in Aries, where Surprising Uranus is residing. Jupiter is in Pisces and has not yet joined Uranus in Aries – it won’t do that until early Sunday morning – and it will not conjoin with Uranus until June 8th. The Sun is in Gemini, Venus is in Cancer, and Mars is in Leo – “not yet” in Virgo.

And there are no strong aspects to speak of on the day of the race –- a Moon–Saturn parallel about posting time makes it a serious affair. The prevailing influence may still be the faceoff between Mars in Leo and Neptune in Aquarius from the day before (Friday). This might portend a battle between an Aries and a Pisces.

If you take the tack of a trine in Water signs (see all the birth data below), Dave in Dixie, with his Pisces Sun and Cancer Moon, conjoined with transiting Venus, might make a surprising showing.

But where is the Spark that will Ignite a Winner? If you take the tack of proximity [closeness] to Jupiter, the order would be 1 – Stay Put, with a 3/24 birthday, 2 – First Dude, with a 3/27 birthday, and Ice Box, with a 3/29 birthday. Stay Put will have the Gemini Sun heating up his Gemini Moon.

Then there is Fly Down, who also benefits from the coming entry of Jupiter into Aries. I like the fact that his Moon is in Taurus – some Earth in a thoroughbred’s chart is often helpful. His Moon will be pressured by the Mars-Neptune opposition, since it squares Leo and Aquarius – which may give him some Winning Momentum!

Then, there is the fact that Mars will be goading Ice Box’s Leo Moon – that should Light Some Fire!

So what do I think? And remember this is Just For Fun:  I am going for an Ice Box – Fly Down exacta box, with First Dude and Stay Put as possible thirds. It should be an exciting race, so Enjoy the Spectacle!

Please remember to bet responsibly – and this is For Entertainment Only! Good luck!!

Yours in Good Fortune,

Lucky Star
